Call Bell Sound Effect

A couple of years ago I bought a call bell (the kind you might see at the front desk of a hotel) to use as a sound effect on a CD I was recording. It’s been sitting on my desk, unused, ever since. Looking at it today I thought it might be a nice way to announce when I’ve received an e-mail, so I recorded it with my portable recorder and brought it into the computer. I edited the file down so it wasn’t so big, converting it to mono and reducing the sample rate. It’s still a little large at about 127 KB, but any more compression and it would lose too much quality and no longer sound like the original bell.

If you’d like to download it and use it for your e-mail sound (or anything else), the file is available here (you might need to right-click and choose “Save target as…”).

Dude, thank you SO much for supplying this sound effect to the world. I’m going to use it in an upcoming show: http://www.ChannelThirtyEight.org.

I’ve never understood what compels bloggers to come up with such seemingly inane posts, and yet they always prove useful. Again man, I really appreciate you supplying this to me. Do a google search… virtually NOTHING free comes up, except this.
